BuiltĀ on Lived Experience
Brave Horizons was founded by Dr. Alaina R. Foster, a U.S. Air Force veteran, educator, counselor-in-training focused on military resilience, and a mother of sons who have worn the uniform.
Her work is rooted in both professional expertise and personal experience. Throughout her career supporting military-connected individuals and families, Dr. Foster saw how many young service members entered military life without the preparation, guidance, or support needed to navigate the transition well.Ā
"I created the kind of support I wish had existed when I enlisted at 18 and the kind of support I wanted for my own family when my sons chose to serve."Ā
Drawing on years of leadership in higher education, direct service to military-connected families, and her own lived experience, Dr. Foster created Brave Horizons to help service members and their families transition into military life with greater confidence, resilience, and support.
